PRESS MATTERS: SPRING 2019 EDITION
Spring has sprung for Guillotine Vodka as respected food & beverage outlets continue to recognize the many ways in which our revolutionary spirits stand above and beyond the rest. Our ultra-premium Guillotine Originale vodka and barrel-aged Guillotine Heritage vodka get the red-carpet treatment in editorial featured recently in the following publications:
February 2019 + April 2019
In the first of two features included in The SOMM Journal, Guillotine Heritage barrel-aged vodka is the focus of a unique pairing created by Agostino Sciandri, chef and partner of L.A.’s high-end culinary destination, Ago. Sciandri and general manager Abel Santillian together created “The Antoinette”, a cocktail that combines Guillotine Heritage with fresh blood orange juice and vermouth, a French-inspired specialty drink the two suggest pairing with a classic Italian dish, “polipo e potate”. “The soft touch of sweetness from the blood orange juice and the smoothness of the Guillotine vodka in ‘The Antoinette’ create a contrast of taste when paired with the savory flavors of the polipo e patate,” says Santillian. “It’s always a challenge to carry a new vodka, but the smooth, clean taste of Guillotine is unlike any other.”
March 2019 + April 2019
Guillotine Vodka earned top honors in the March 2019 edition of Chilled Magazine’s “Brand Spotlight”, in which our collection of inimitable spirits is described by writer Michael Tulipan as “Artisan craftsmanship meets the world of modern French winemaking.” The article is notable for the release of two exclusive signature cocktails, the “Libertine” and “Heritage Delight.” While the former’s lemon juice and triple sec pair perfectly with Guillotine Originale’s refreshing citrus notes, the latter’s earthy blueberry and rosemary flavors combine with barrel-aged Guillotine Heritage to create a unique warmth and smoothness.
In a second editorial included in the magazine’s April 2019 edition, entitled “7 Vodkas That Mix An Excellent Martini,” Guillotine Originale ultra-premium vodka is prominently featured alongside other notable premium spirits, and is described as THE vodka for fans of fine French spirits, noting that it “mixes an exceptionally elegant Martini that we love serving garnished with a lemon twist.” Elegant and bold, Guillotine Heritage is your new bar essential.
The exciting news of Guillotine Vodka’s inclusion in the bar program of Katana gets a full write up in the In the “SoCal Sips” section of the March 2019 edition of The Tasting Panel. The article, aptly titled “French Grapes, Japanese Grace,” explains how one of L.A.’s most respected establishments came to carry the French vodka. “I get approached every single day with…a new vodka,” says Christian Corben, director of operations for the Innovative Dining Group, which includes Katana. “I’ll never take the meeting. Then I heard about this vodka aged in Cognac barrels from the Champagne region in France, [made with] Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier, and Chardonnay [grapes]. I was like, ‘Wow, that sounds exciting.’” Katana’s bar manager Chase Sanders communicated that excitement through a new signature cocktail she dubbed the “Aged Old Fashioned”, which combines the nutty, caramel notes of Guillotine Heritage with amaro, Mandarine Napoleon liqueur, and black-walnut bitters, offering patrons an earthy and delicious rendition of a cocktail classic.
